How to Read a Credit Report

You should have a copy of your tri merge credit report with all three FICO Scores. The easiest way to obtain a tri-merge credit report is to call a local mortgage lender and apply for a loan and ask for a copy of your report. This is the report all Mortgage and Auto Lenders use to approve your loan. But keep in mind; this will be a hard inquiry against your credit score. But if you are in the market for a mortgage or auto loan this will hurt your score only slightly, particularly if you have not had many credit inquiries in the past 12 months. The best way to obtain your credit score is from www.myfico.com. The report will cost you $48.00, but it is well worth the price, as this is a comprehensive report that will give you all 3 credit scores from each credit Reporting Agency. You can obtain a free copy at www.annualcreditreport.com , but this will only give you your account information and not your credit score. As of Feb 2009, an Experian Credit Report is no longer available on www.myfico.com. The only way to get a FICO credit score from Experian is through a Tri merge from a mortgage company.

Reading a Credit Report

Once you've obtained a copy of your credit report, you'll be able to see what your creditors are saying about you. There's just one problem -- credit reports can be a little confusing. Never fear! In the following paragraphs you'll find a step-bystep explanation of how to read and interpret each section of your credit report. Most mortgage lenders will base their decision to lend on the middle of the 3 FICO scores. Lets say you had FICO of 625, a 676, and a 650, the rate and terms offered would be determined by the middle 650 score. So you should focus your credit improvement efforts on your middle score to get a better rate. For only $ 49.99, a www.nustart720.com credit professional will perform a complete analysis of your credit report and develop a personalized credit improvement plan that you can implement today!...
